REVIEW – Justice League of America Issue 1

DC Comics kicked off their new Justice League of America series several days ago with Issue 1 and it was, by all accounts, very good. Now it may sound obvious that the new series “kicked off…with Issue 1” but – as often happens with new comic series’ – there were a few prelude issues and the series itself (as DC puts it) came “spinning out of pages of Justice League vs Suicide Squad!”

Be Prepared for a Female Doctor Who!

When Tom Baker announced he was to leave Doctor Who in 1980, he caused a sensation by suggesting his successor in the lead role could be a woman. Almost forty years later, I would venture more sensation would be caused if the BBC were to say that Peter Capaldi’s replacement, the Thirteenth Doctor, would definitely not be a woman. Baker’s tongue-in-cheek mischievous suggestion is now very much on the cards – and I would say is a matter of when; not if.

I recently purchased a copy of Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop by Nick Offerman. This article isn’t really a book review per se – though the book is really very good – nor is it going to be an ode to Nick Offerman (or Ron Swanson,) but rather a look at Nick’s motivation for writing the book and what I’ve taken from it so far.
